Puppies, Not Gerbils!!

I got home from the dog show at about 5:00 this evening. First thing I did was look in on the puppies. And boy did it hit me... They look like puppies now! In just a little over 48 hours they went from looking like rodents, to looking like members of the canine species. How cool is that?

What else happened in the last 48 hours?

They all have teeth. Kelly is NOT happy about that.

They all weigh at least 3 pounds!

After showering and changing clothes (we want no dog show germs near the puppies!) I fixed the puppies their first plate of mush. That's puppy food saturated with water and put thru the blender. Usually it takes a few days for any of them to be interested, but Red and Orange ate a little right away and Blue chowed down big time. Long after all the other puppies had wandered off and fallen asleep Blue continued to eat and eat and eat.

The other news from the weekend? Yesterday my husband looked in on the pups and discovered Blue wandering around the room by himself. Yes, he escaped from the whelping box. My husband removed the pig rail which should prevent any more escapes. Soon it may be time to put the side up on the low hinged end of the box.
